Highway Superintendent Position - Butler County
The Butler County Board of Supervisors is seeking a full-time County Highway Superintendent. Job duties would include but not be limited to negotiating and administering contracts, developing bid documents, cooperative agreements and other transactions with other agencies and units of government, private businesses, subcontractors and project consultants. Direct short and long-range planning, workload and requirements programming. Design and implement repair strategies. Supervise construction and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety requirements and procedures. Initiate accident prevention procedures and coordinate traffic-control efforts on construction projects through news releases, communication with various agencies and responding to inquiries from the public and other agencies. Prepare all annual reports and the budget for the County Highway Department. Supervise and provide leadership for all county roads department employees. Be actively involved in all personnel decisions including but not limited to: hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, maintaining employee morale and promoting work-place safety. Represent the County in Highway Department related capacities, respond to inquiries by the public and others, and maintain positive public relations. The County Highway Superintendent shall conduct safety meetings with roads employees, schedule and conduct new-employee training, schedule and conduct leadership training for supervisory team members, ensure employees are properly completing assigned tasks, motivate employees and achieve work goals through effective leadership, ensure compliance with all county personnel policies, review and approve employee payroll data, and supervise maintenance and repair activities. A Class A Highway Superintendent License is beneficial but not required; however, applicants must be willing to undertake the steps to obtain a Class A license after hire. Real Property Appraiser: Madison County Assessor’s Office
The Madison County Assessor is currently seeking a qualified, experienced candidate to fill the position of Real Property Appraiser. This position requires the inspection and valuation of residential, commercial and agricultural property. Valuation will be done with computer software and extensive statistical analysis. Successful applicant must be highly motivated, able to meet strict deadlines, and show proven ability to multi-task effectively. Exceptional communication skills, both written & oral are necessary in dealing with the public. Knowledge of current appraisal practices, techniques and statistical analysis is required. Must be able to work outside and traverse hazardous terrain in all weather conditions. This is technical work requiring extreme attention to detail and accuracy. Applicant must be a high school graduate or possess the equivalent. College degree in real estate, business, finance, or related field is preferred. Considerable experience in the appraisal profession, preferably the mass appraisal field is required. Applicant must have valid / current appraisal license.
